Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy is change agent, an entrepreneur, and an educator.
As the Executive Vice President and COO of Howard University in Washington, DC, Dr. Dubroy is a higher education leader, administrator and entrepreneur with incredible strategic insight into process improvement, working with millennials, and leading change in business and higher education. She has enlightened and challenged audiences all over the world through her keynote speeches and workshops.
After earning her Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from North Carolina State University in 2007, Dr. Dubroy began her career as a Research Scientist at BASF, the world’s largest chemical company. She quickly ascended to the position of Global Technology Analyst, and after two years, was appointed to serve as the Chemical Procurement Manager, where she managed a strategic sourcing budget of $35 million.
Later, she launched a respected cosmetology-based company called Tea & Honey. As a valued business leader, Dr. Dubroy’s entrepreneurial success has landed her on the pages of Money Magazine and Bloomberg’s BusinessWeek. The company was so profitable that eventually it was acquired by a larger corporation allowing Dr. Dubroy to pursue her passion of working in high education. She returned to work as Faculty at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.
Three years later, Dr. Dubroy accepted a Presidential appointment, making her the youngest President to serve at Shaw University. Her path to the presidency has been unconventional, but her leadership has been categorized as a fresh and needed vision for the sustainability of higher education in metropolitan settings.
Dr. Dubroy’s philosophy of fiscal conservatism and institutional capacity-building has made her a fast-rising star in the higher education community. In its first year, the Dubroy Administration effectively reversed six consecutive years of enrollment declines and yielded a 15 percent increase of new and returning students in 2015. That same year, the administration closed a $4 million fundraising gap which included an institutional record $630,000 raised during Shaw’s annual homecoming weekend and earned positive change in net assets to counteract a two-year loss – all of which earned her honors from local philanthropic organizations. In addition, Dr. Dubroy was named the national HBCU Female President of the Year, presented by the HBCU Digest.
A nationally-recognized advocate for female participation in the sciences, Dr. Dubroy was recognized by Cosmopolitan Magazine, as a “Fun, Fearless Female” who is making waves in the science community as founder of the Brilliant & Beautiful Foundation.

In 2017, Dr. Dubroy was named Executive Vice President and COO of Howard University in Washington, DC. In her Cabinet position, Dr. Dubroy is responsible for the success of major operational areas for Howard University and process optimization across the institution.
